Philosophy

We, as Sisters of Mercy, believe that life at every age is a gift to be respected with dignity, affection, and supported in all aspects of religious community life. We value and commit ourselves to the spiritual, emotional, social, physical and intellectual well-being of each Sister.

Catherine McAuley’s sacred journey through life inspires us to embrace, celebrate, and live life to the fullest. Each of us is on her own personal sacred journey, yet we do not journey alone. By our vows we have chosen to make our journey with one another in Community and in the spirit and charism of Catherine.

The wholeness of each Sister is a contribution to the life of the Community. Care, provided for each Sister at every stage of life’s journey, is holistic and attentive to mind, body, and spirit. We strive to make our communal and personal decisions an expression of our desire to be in union for the common good of all. For the transition times on our sacred journey, the Community offers resources to enable each Sister to have options within Community guidelines with respect to her ministry, spiritual enrichment, physical well-being, living location, and environment.

EACH DAY IS A STEP WE MAKE TOWARD ETERNITY AND WE SHALL CONTINUE THUS TO STEP FROM DAY TO DAY UNTIL WE TAKE THE LAST STEP, WHICH WILL BRING US INTO THE PRESENCE OF GOD

CATHERINE MCAULEY

I am interested in the Aging Conference in Buffalo. Unfortunately, I am unable to read the bio of the speakers because the font is too small. Can you help?
